Steven’s Creek Subaru Review By Alex I.

Alex  I.

I just bought my second Subaru from these guys. Back in 2004 I bought a Forester, because of the safety ratings, right before the birth of my son. Now with two, it's all the more important to keep the family safe. I'm a fan of AWD. If it's good enough for Lamborghini (please notice the next time you're in one: no roll bar either, AWD instead) it's good enough for me. Ok, so I'm an old hand at this car-buying thing. Not my first time to the rodeo, shall we say (in our best Barney Fife!) I did all the research, I knew what I wanted and what local people were paying for it. I called up and asked for a manager, explained that I just want to avoid doing the "dance." I told him specifically what I wanted, that I'm shopping it around and will go with the best quote, so as to avoid the usual haggling experience. He understood, and told me someone would call me back. Sure enough 5 minutes later I was talking to a Shmoe who was telling me the MSRP on my car was 5 grand higher than I knew it was. I got so F***ing pissed off!! This is exactly what I wanted to avoid!! I thanked him and hung up. I proceeded to write a review similar to the one star reviews you see here. Then I got a call back from the original manager I spoke to, asking for a chance to talk. I ignored it. Then I got a yelp msg from the dealership. Give us a chance, deal with the gen manager it said. I really don't know why, but I went ahead and called back. they quoted me a price that no other dealership could touch, and they got my business back. This was the right time of year to buy and all but I feel I got an AMAZING DEAL. I even learned that "the dance" may not be as insanely preposterous as it seems, as the sales guys really don't have any latitude in negotiating a price, it's all up to the managers. Anyway, I got an amazing deal... a thousand dollars (US) better than anything I was expecting. So the bit of the pain-in-the-ass at the start turned out to be totally, totally worth it. Do your research people, get a quote before coming in, be prepared to spend some time (although the paperwork was so quick and easy, 30 minutes tops!) Know what you are shopping for and you won't fall for something you don't want. Good luck. And thanks again Stevens Creek Suby -- Timothy, Rocky, Mathew!
