Steven’s Creek Subaru Review By J C.

I would highly recommend Stevens Creek Subaru. I was recently involved in a crash that left my ever dependable Corolla totaled. All I ever owned previously were Hondas and Toyotas so I was pretty dead set on getting one of those, the Civic Coupe to be specific. I used the auto buying program from USAA(which I highly recommend if you have it). What this did was lock in prices and print a certificate from dealerships for a specific new vehicle, usually priced $1-2k lower then MSRP. I did this for Civics and Corollas. The only bad thing was most dealerships were in the San Jose and Bay Area with Tracy Honda being the closest. Living in Modesto I thought I would end up getting the Civic from Tracy Honda. It wasn't until I test drove a used Impreza Sport at a local Ford dealership that I knew I wanted a Subaru. So I got prices from Subaru dealerships again using my USAA program and again prices(pretax) from two dealerships about 2 hours away, Diablo Subaru(Walnut Creek) and Stevens Creek Subaru(San Jose). I spoke to Matt K. the Steven Creeks Internet Sales Manager. I told him that I wanted the total off the lot price as I was already preapproved thru my credit union and would only go to the dealership if we agreed on a total off the lot price to bypass all the headache of negotiating. I also told him that I was awaiting a total from Diablo and that's when he assured me that he would try his best to beat their price or the very least match it. Matt was not only able to match it but beat it. I should note that Matt K. did most of his work on his off time/hours communicating with me via text, email, and phone calls with info like vehicle availability, color, features and it was only because we were in San Jose for a couple of hours visiting relatives or else I would have waited until he was actually in the office. We arrived to the lot where Matt already had our Subaru out in the front so we could look at it. I was ready to sign papers right there on the spot but Matt really wanted me to test drive it to make sure I was happy, which I now appreciate! After a great test drive, Matt got the vehicle detailed and made sure my tank was full. Next was financing and that's when I met Olivia F. Very sharp, professional, knowledgeable, caring and I could go on! Though I was already preapproved thru my credit union I did agree to have them run my credit and try to get me a better rate. Olivia did find me one with a better rate thru another credit union but in the end I stayed with my local one. But in the process Olivia came across as only looking out for my best interest and left me with the lasting impression that she turned over every rock and stone looking for the best deal and scenario for my situation. Which is a great feeling to have after buying a car. We even talked about the horrible third party warranty I got on another vehicle and what I could do to save money. She even offered to bring my car in for its first free complementary oil change so I wouldnt have to drive from Modesto(found out we live in neighboring cities) to San Jose. In the end we got our off the lot price that Matt promised us only adding gap and a service plan so we wouldn't have to pay for any oil changes, tire rotations, and other scheduled maintenance for the next 3 years/42k miles. Car buying is stressful but can and should be really fun too. You just have to do your homework and know what you want. Try agreeing on a total off the lot price before getting to the lot and get preapproved from your bank or credit union so you know what to expect for a payment. My wife and I drove two hours away on two different occasions to Selma Honda to deal with a specific person cause of our great experience and knowing he would take care of us. Only time will tell if we get another Subaru but if we do it will definitely be with Matt K and Olivia F. Thank you both!
