I bought a new 2009 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. I have been to Stevens Creek Subaru twice - on Thursday and Friday (03/26/09 and 03/27/09). We did not agree on the price on Thursday and on Friday I bought the car. This review relates to my Friday experience. On Friday my sales representative was Abdul Qudrat, and everything went smooth. A friend of mine worked in a car dealership and here are some tips from her that I find useful. 1) All that - "I have to talk to my manger" - stuff is meant to hold you in the dealership for as many hours as possible so that you get tired (especially if you come there with a kid) and buy the car. 2) No matter what you do but the trade-in value they offer you will be very low. I traded in my car for 1.5K less than what I could easily get from another dealership. If you have time and desire it is ALWAYS better to sell your old car on craigslist list or some other place. 3) 2K from MSRP should be taken off by default. The rest is negotiable. From her experience between 2K and 5K can be taken off the MSRP, 4) Do not buy the car the first time you come to dealership. 5) E-mail different dealerships and ask a quote from them. Conclusion: My overall experience was good - Adil and the manager Jeff ware courteous and even though I did not get the best price I believe that all of us were satisfied with the transaction.
